Nigerians on social media have reacted to report that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has received the backing of commercial sex workers ahead of next week’s election.

DAILY POST reported yesterday that no fewer than 10,000 members of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes, NANP, stormed Abuja, the nation’s capital ahead of the February 16 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Our correspondent reported thatthe group vowed to mobilize its members across the country for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Reacting to the development on Twitter, some Nigerians believed that the prostitutes were acting within their constitutional rights to support and mobilise for a candidate of their choice.

Here are some of their reactions:

@Jerryfrankson, “They did it for Buhari back then and he won. They’re doing it for Atiku this time.”

@AGBO2011, “Why is darkness trailing this man. Yesterday it was witches today prostitutes. Show me your friends and I will tell who you are. Nevertheless, Light shall surely overcome in Jesus Name.”

@larryhillt, “Prostitutes in Lagos declared support for Buhari in 2015. Calm down.”
