Makurdi –The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign that was billed to hold in Gbajimba, Guma Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state on Friday may have turned bloody.
The APC alleged that their supporters were attacked by militia hired by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to disrupt its campaign that was intended to hold on Friday.
The party therefore shelved the campaign which would have held at Gbajimba, which is the home town of the State Governor, Samuel Ortom until further notice.
Although, there are no confirmed figure of deaths recorded during the fracas, the APC has said that at least five of their supporters have been confirmed missing, while many others have been injured.
The party also said, three persons have so far been arrested, just as it declared five missing and many injured. the casualty figures of deaths may be high.
According to Eugene Aliegba, Secretary, Emmanuel Jime/Sam Ode Campaign Council who spoke to newsmen at a Press Conference in Makurdi said that the militia attacked APC supporters in the area with AK47 rifles.
Shedding more light on the incident, he said there was a situation where some persons had insisted on Thursday that the campaign in the area would not hold.
