Pope Francis got stuck in the Vatican elevator today September 1 as he was about to attend to worshippers’ for his weekly blessing rites, Bloomberg reports.
According to reports, the problem was as a result of a drop in voltage, but for the swift intervention of the firemen, the situation was brought to normalcy.
Addressing the audience, The pontiff apologised for the delay before continuing with the Sunday Angelus which he delivered to the faithful, who gathered in St. Peter’s Square below his apartment window, he also commended the efforts of the firemen who were there just in time to salvage the situation.
He said: “Thank God that the firefighters came and I thank them very much. After 25 minutes of work, I was able to get out.”
