The outcome of the 2019 Senatorial election in Imo State has lead to a legal tussle, Rochas okorocha of the All Progressives Congress APC was declared winner of that election.
Reactions has continued to trail his emergence as the winner of the election, when the presiding officer for Inec alleged that he declared Okorocha winner under duress.
Right now,the matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction.
Still on the matter, The Federal High Court sitting in Owerri has restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) from issuing a Certificate of Return to Okorocha as a senator-elect for Imo West.
The Court, in a suit filed by Hon. Jones Onyeriri, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Senatorial candidate for Imo West, ordered that the status quo be maintained until the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.
The presiding judge, Justice E.F. Njemanze, adjourned the case till June 5 2019, for hearing.
