The director-general of the World Health Organisation, WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said cases of coronavirus across the world will get worse and worse and continue to rise if countries fail to adhere to strict healthcare precautions.

The WHO chief made this disclosure while addressing a virtual briefing from the U.N. agency’s headquarters in Geneva on Monday, according to him  the crisis isn’t over yet.

He said, “Let me be blunt, too many countries are headed in the wrong direction, the virus remains public enemy number one.”

“If basics are not followed, the only way this pandemic is going to go – it is going to get worse and worse and worse,” Tedros said.

So far, Global infections stand at 13 million with more than half a million deaths.

Just last Sunday there were 230,000 new cases with 80% from 10 nations, and 50% from just two countries.

The United States and Brazil have been worse hit in this pandemic with a very high number of confirmed cases and deaths.

As cases continue to rise in African countries, Schools are been reopened and have become another breeding ground for the pandemic.

Tedros is asking countries not to make schools into a political football, saying schools could safely reopen once the virus had been suppressed.
