Former two-time Governor of Lagos state and minister of works and housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola has disassociated self from a fake facebook account in his name, and warned unsuspecting Nigerians not to fall prey to scammers.
In the past, several such accounts set up in his name has been deleted, but this latest fake account with the ministers’s name had the user name: Fashola Raji Fashola, and the scammers wrote that the Federal Government was giving out the sum of N700,000 for youth empowerment to youths and adults to enable set up business outfits and pay school fees among others benefits.
The poorly written publication by the scammers reads in part, “All the Nigeria Citozings of All the and Local Government in Nigeria Are Beneficiary of the Federal Government Money Enpwoerment to Empower the Youth to Pay There School. Adult to do Business Etc. Contact Number 08035339533).
“Good News…To All Nigeria Youth and Adult… Federal Government is Giving Out N700,000 Free Cash Transfer To All To Empower the Youth Further Their Educations, Open Good Business and Learn Good Works. Call Mr. Adebayo Kola, the Federal Government Cashier on 09035339533. All the Nigerian Citizens of All the States and Local Governments…”
In a statement, The minister advised members of the public to clarify with the appropriate agencies of government before dealing with anyone purportedly working for them, adding that Nigerians should report such criminal activity to law enforcement agencies.
The minister maintained that his verified Facebook account remained Babatunde Fashola.
