Piers Morgan has expressed disgust and lampooned Nova Djokovic over testing positive to Covid19, he blamed him for hosting a tennis tournament amid the Coronavirus pandemic, and later testing positive to the virus and exposing others too.

According to an earlier report, the World N01 and his wife Jelena tested positive for COVID-19 and as well as four other players who took part in the tournament. A pregnant wife of one of his friends also tested positive for the virus.

Djokovic has since apologized for holding the event at a critical time such as this.

He said:

“I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine.”

“The moment we arrived in Belgrade we went to be tested. My result is positive, just as Jelena’s, while the results of our children are negative.

“Everything we did in the past month, we did with a pure heart and sincere intentions. Our tournament meant to unite and share a message of solidarity and compassion throughout the region.

“We organized the tournament at the moment when the virus has weakened, believing that the conditions for hosting the Tour had been met. Unfortunately, this virus is still present, and it is a new reality that we are still learning to cope and live with.”

Speaking on the issue on Good Morning Britain today, Mr. Morgan expressed his dissatisfaction with the actions of Djokovic.

“One of the infected people is the pregnant wife of his close friend – the Serbian player – Viktor Troicki.

“I mean that’s, you know, to have caused a situation where one of your best friends wives is pregnant and gets infected with the virus.

“It was so reckless. Some of the scenes – the partying scenes – let us look at this.”

“I mean that is utterly ridiculous. For the world’s best tennis player to be basically putting on this kind of thing in the middle of the pandemic.”
