Venessa Bryant widow of Kobe Bryant is suing Island Express Helicopters owners of the helicopter that crashed on January 26 killing her husband and 13-year-old daughter Gianna alleging in part that the pilot failed to safely operate the aircraft.

Mrs Bryant filed the law suit on Monday the same day a memorial service was held in honour of her late husband and daughter.

The suit alleges numerous counts of negligence and wrongful death against  the helicopter’s operator, in a crash  in Calabasas, California.

“This was a tragic accident. We will have no comment on the pending litigation,” the company said in a statement Monday.

The lawsuit alleges that the helicopter company, Island Express, was “vicariously liable” for any and all actions of pilot Ara George Zobayan, including his “negligent and careless piloting.”

“Defendant Island Express Helicopters authorized and/or permitted a flight with full knowledge that the subject helicopter was flying into unsafe weather conditions,” the suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleges.
