Maradona’s ex-partner banned from attending late the player’s wake by his ex- wife
Diego Maradona’s former lover has claimed his ex-wife had stopped her entering a family wake to pay her last respect to the fallen hero.
Rocio Oliva was Maradona’s known partner before his demise, the aggrieved woman called the ban ‘a disgrace’ in an emotional interview outside the doors of the presidential palace.
Thousands of fans were sighted outside the Casa Rosada and will be let in to pay their respects from 6 am local time.
Maradona’s ex-wife Claudia Villafane and their two daughters Dalma and Gianinna were on the ground to finalize details ahead of a more intimate wake.
Oliva claimed she wasn’t allowed or excluded from a list of the iconic footballer’s closest family and friends inside the Casa Rosada and told to queue with the rest of the public outside.
Oliva and the late retired footballer spent six years together in a relationship before their sudden split in 2018.
As she fought back tears after being turned away before the public were allowed in to see Diego in his coffin, she said: “The decision on who gets in depends on Claudia.
“I don’t know why they’re doing this to me. All I wanted to do was say goodbye to Diego.
“I was his last partner. I have as much right as anyone else to say goodbye to him.
