N7.65bn fraud: Uzo Kalu’s Properties Sealed Off By The EFCC


Following the court’s judgement on the 5th of December by Justice Muhammed sitting at the Federal High Court in Lagos,  The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC)  on Saturday 14th December has commenced the marking of properties belonging to the embattled former governor of Abia State and current senator representing Abia north, Orji Uzo Kalu.

 In a statement   issued by the agency’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren the EFCC stated that the marking is to ensure that the properties are not dissipated, the court ordered that that Uzo Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited, be wound up and all assets forfeited to the Federal Government. .

The trial  has been on going for several years before this order, Kanu alongside his company Slok Nigeria Limited and Udeh Udeogu, his Director of Finance and Accounts at the Abia State Government House were arraigned by the EFCC over an amended 39-count  charge  on conspiracy and diverting the sum of  N7.65bn from Abia state treasury at  the time he served as governor for eight years.

He was also sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in addition to forfeiting all the properties belonging to his company, Slok Nigeria Limited to the Federal government.
