The acting managing director, MD of the Niger Delta Development Commission Prof Daniel Pondei suddenly fainted during a public hearing with members of the House of Representatives over alleged misuse of over N81 billion.
He was revived after help came from scores of NDDC officials and also Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh seated close to him assisted in resuscitating him.
According to the Guardian reports, Pondei was ferried out of the venue of the investigative hearing chaired by the chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo at about 1.0 pm,
Some members of the committee who felt Pondei’s action was staged and a stunt failed in their bid to stop sympathizers and others from taking him away for medical attention.
Pondei was queried over alleged extra-budgetary expenditure incurred while he was in charge of the commission between February to date.
The lawmakers on the ground adjourned the hearing for 15 minutes to ascertain the way forward on whether or not to continue.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, however, stayed behind.
