Not many knew Chadwick Boseman was married before his death

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman reportedly married wife Taylor Simone Ledward in secret prior to his death.

The actor tragically passed away aged 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

His wife was at his bedside alongside close family.

Chadwick is said to have asked Taylor, a singer, to marry him last October and the two allegedly said their vows in a private ceremony before the actor’s cancer advanced.

A source said ‘Chadwick and Simone got engaged. It was a long time coming and everyone is really happy.’

The couple was first confirmed in 2015 when they were spotted together by paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport.

Simone was later seen with Chadwick in 2017 as a guest on talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the following year she started to join him regularly at red carpet events.

In March 2019 he publicly addressed their romance for the first time at the 50th NAACP Image Awards, saying: ‘Simone, you’re with me every day. I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you.

They were last seen together in February when the pair watched the NBA All-Star Game in Chicago.

Chadwick was diagnosed with cancer a year into their relationship and battled it with Taylor by his side.

His family confirmed his death in a statement posted to social media, writing: ‘It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. ‘Chadwick was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.

A true fighter, Chadwick preserved through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.

‘It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ‘He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ‘The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.’

Since the news of his death broke, many celebrities have paid tribute to the actor who played Marvel’s T’Challa.
