Not surprised Trump tested positive to COVID19—-Dr.Fauci

US top infectious disease expert Dr. Fauci has said he is not surprised that President Trump contracted coronavirus,  after seeing him not wearing a facemask and surrounded by people not wearing face masks and flouting best public health practices during rallies and meetings with aides.

Fauci who has often been at loggerheads with President Trump on issues bordering on the pandemic spoke during an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday night.

In his words;

 “I was worried that he was going to get sick when I saw him in a completely precarious situation of crowded — no separation between people, and almost nobody wearing a mask.”

“When I saw that on TV, I said, ‘Oh my goodness. Nothing good can come out of that, that’s got to be a problem,'” he continued.

“And then, sure enough, it turned out to be a super spreader event.”

Fauci was making reference to the Rose Garden September 26 event where Trump announced Judge Amy Coney Barrett was his pick to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.

Trump after contracting Covid19 was immediately transferred to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he was treated, his wife Melanie also tested positive for the virus.

Although the Rose Garden event was held outdoor, footage of the event showed almost everyone failed to adhere to covid19 precautionary measures as they were hugging and handshaking hands without recourse to physical distancing. Since that event, at least twelve persons have tested positive for Covid-19.

Speaking further, the expert said: “The  data speak for themselves,”

Fauci  concluded the interview by telling  “60 Minutes” it doesn’t make sense to him why Trump “equates wearing a mask with weakness.”

“Masks really do work,” Fauci added.

Fauci had previously labeled the Rose Garden event as a “superspreader” for coronavirus.
