The joy and jubillation displayed by the Immediate past  governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha knew no bound  after a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Friday, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue him the certificate of return as the senator-elect for the Imo West Senatorial District in the just concluded election held in February.

INEC’s decision to withhold the certificate of return was based on the complaint  they received  from the returning officer who said he was made to declare Okorocha winner under duress.

Justice Okon Abang gave the order mandating INEC to immediately hand over Okorocha’s certificate to him, in his judgment on the suit filed by Okorocha to challenge INEC’s decision to withhold his certificate of return after he was declared the winner of the February 23, 2019 National Assembly election in the senatorial district.

The judge, described  INEC’s action as lawless and arbitrary, agreed with the plantiff and his lawyer Mr. Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), that since the plaintiff  have been declared the winner of the election, INEC has no power  or legal authority to review the declaration.

Reacting to his  victory, Okorocha said he is most elated over the judegement by the court and that he had forgiven those who encouraged INEC to withhold his Certificate Of Return.
