ONDO ELECTION: Jegede files petition against Akeredolu at the tribunal


 Candidate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eyitayo Jegede, in the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, has filed a petition at the tribunal challenging the victory of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress APC.

Akeredolu defeated the PDP candidate and the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party ZLP and former deputy governor Agbola Ayayi to be declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Jegede  alleged that the election was marred by irregularities and pockets of violence and intimidation, he also faulted the emergence of Akeredolu as flagbearer during Party’s primaries

Jegede also asked the tribunal to declare him the winner of the election following the issues he raised in his petition.

Other defendants in the petition are; the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the All Progressives Congress and the Deputy Governor-elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa
