The Inaugural presidential election petition tribunal was held today Wednesday at the Abuja division of the court of appeal with The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 23 presidential election, Peter Obi, in attendance.
Obi arrived at the venue at about 9.24am and was seated in the rear row at the left side of the packed courtroom.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the The PDP and the party had jointly filed a petition to challenge the outcome of the poll which was won by the incumbent President and candidate of the APC Muhammadu Buhari as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The PDP is not solo on the petition against Buhari and the APC but three other petitions were also filed by other political parties and their presidential candidates challenging Buhari’s victory at the recently concluded poll.
Abubakar Atiku was not present at the sitting, but Obi is the only candidate that has a stake on the matter that has so far been seen in the courtroom.
Sitting of the tribunal was scheduled to commence at 9 am, with the five-man panel to be led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.
