When T.V presenter Philip Scofield came out as gay, a whole lot of people were shocked over the sudden revelation, reactions and counter reaction trailed his coming out public that he is homosexual.
The father of two have however disclosed that his wife of twenty-seven years Steph has been the most supportive.
This Morning host Phillip Schofield recounts the moment he opened up to his wife and the mother of his daughters Molly and Ruby, according to him his wife has known for sometime before he decided to come out publicly while describing her as very supportive.
He told The Sun On Sunday: “Steph is my closest confidante. She’s been amazing. I have no secrets from Steph.
“We have been very truthful and honest. She has known for a while. When you live with someone you know these things don’t you?
“We sat down and we talked and then she left me to have space.
“I don’t know what it would have been like if I had a different person in my life.
“It has been a process, we started having discussions and it was gradual.
“There is no question she is a truly remarkable person – the kindest, sweetest soul I could have possibly met.”
“That is what makes this so hard. Knowing you are hurting the perfect person.
“But I still love Steph as much as when we first met. More probably.”
Philip Schofield earlier said on Instagram that he has been struggling with his sexuality and now identifies as gay.
Despite the hurtful disclosure, the couple are not in a hurry to divorce, An insider said: “Steph isn’t bitter over Phil’s coming out,”
“She isn’t the type to be spiteful by dragging him into court”.
“She’s saying she’ll stick with him until he’s settled and happy in a new relationship, and then they’ll talk about an amicable split deal.”

Steph speaking on the effect her husband’s gay admission has on her and their marriage, she told The Sun On Sunday: “We have had to face the most emotionally painful time in our 27 years of marriage.”
Philip admits he was aware of his gay status when he got married to his wife twenty-seven years ago, but added he was happy he never considered it.
‘I am not saying I didn’t know whatever was there. I thought ‘OK whatever this is, you stay back because I am happy’.
He wrote on Instagram: You never know what’s going on in someone’s seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their wellbeing – and so you won’t know what has been consuming me for the last few years.
“With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.
“This is something that has caused many heartbreaking conversations at home.”
