R. Kelly’s lawyers say the singer’s safety is in danger, asks to be released on bond


R. Kelly’s lawyers are asking for the R&B singer to be freed from jail, claiming the star’s safety is in danger inside the Chicago correctional facility.

He was arrested by the New York Police Department and federal Homeland Security agents.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in northern Illinois said Kelly is facing 13 counts including child pornography, enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity, and obstruction of justice.

 This is the first time the singer is facing federal criminal charges.

R Kelly faces two separate federal indictments, one in northern Illinois and one in New York.

Only recently, the 53-year-old was said to be sitting on his bed in his cell when a fellow prisoner from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago began punching him inflicting injuries and bruises on him. Read here
