‘Sound of music star’ and Oscar winner Chris Plummer dies, aged 91


Legendary Hollywood star Christopher Plummer is dead.

He was aged 91.

Known for his iconic role in the classic film The Sound Of Music.

His long-term friend and manager Lou Pitt in a statement described the talented actor as an extraordinary person.

“Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self deprecating humor and the music of words,”

“He was a National Treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots,” Pitt’s statement continued. “Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come. He will forever be with us.”

Plummer is survived by his daughter, Amanda Plummer, and his third wife, Elaine Taylor, who he wed in 1970.
