The Stage Is Set For Who Becomes UK’s New Prime Minister

The Hunt for who becomes the new leader of the Conservative Party is seriously gathering momentum following Thereza May’s announcement that she will step  down next month.

Mrs May stated  on Friday during her speech that she will resign as the party’s leader on june7, but her tenure as PM continues till the end of the leadership contest.

Right now several individuals has indicated  interest in being the next prime Minister of the UK, the leadership of the conservative party expects a new leader to be chosen by end of july.

Top of on the list includes: 

>Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson

>International Development Secretary Rory Stewart

>Former Work and Pensions Secretary Esther McVey

>Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

However,there are several others who are also considering running for the position.

Candidates for the position have until the week commencing 10 June to  forward their names, and any of them who have indicated interest can contest  – as long as they have the backing of two parliamentary colleagues.

The candidates will undergo a process  until two remain, and in July the rest of the conservative party members will vote to decide on who finally wears the cap.

The Conservative Party had a total of 124,000 members as of march 2018.
