At least thirty eight persons escaped death by the whiskers after a storey building, housing eight households collapsed at the Yanshanu suburb of Jos, Plateau state.
Report says the building which was an old one collapsed after a heavy downpour on Friday.
A resident in the building Adamu Mubiro told newsmen how it collapsed just minutes after the residents rushed out of the dilapidated building.
“When the rain started, we heard some sound from the building with four flats and some people came to warn the occupants to vacate the place.
“in Less than ten minutes after they moved out of the building, it collapsed around 9 am.
The General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board, Kefas Yirlwang confirming the incident said no lives were lost. He also called residents to desist from living in old dilapidated structures especially during the rainy season in order to avoid events of this magnitude.
