A woman’s decomposing body has been discovered inside a suitcase at a London flat by a shocked painter after neighbors reported a ‘foul-smelling odor’ that lasted for two weeks.
Police and forensic teams were outside a property in Southall, West London at around 9 pm on Friday night.
Locals say a painter had visited the flat above a parade of shops on Friday, only to discover the ‘body of a female,’ in a suitcase inside the property.
Met Police confirmed it was investigating an ‘unexplained death,’ following the discovery just before 3 pm on Friday.
Scotland Yard would not confirm the gender of the body or any other identifying detail.
Locals believe the body was discovered in flat above shops on The Crescent.
A spokesman from Met Police said tonight: ‘Officers are investigating following an unexplained death in Southall.
‘Police were called at 2.53 pm on Friday to an address in The Crescent, Southall after a person was found deceased.
Residents said they had noticed a stench coming from a nearby property around two weeks ago.
Officers and forensic crews are carrying out investigations on the matter.
