Xenophobia: MTN offices shut down nationwide following reprisal attacks

MTN Nigeria has announced the closure of all its offices in Nigeria, following attacks on South African businesses.

The telecom company are facing reprisal attack from aggrieved Nigerians over the recent xenophobic attack on its citizens by South Africans.

On the company’s social media handle, MTN said, “Dear customer, all MTN shops are closed today.

“You can reach us on call centre 180, Twitter @MTN180, Facebook @MTNloaded, email customercare3@mtn.com, and chat on myMTN App.”

Their offices remain closed till further notice.

In a statement the CEO, MTN Nigeria, Ferdi Moolman condnmed the attack, adding that the  company was against all forms of violence and xenophobia.

“MTN Nigeria strongly condemns hate, prejudice and xenophobia and reiterate our unequivocal condemnation of all violence.

“We seek to connect people, bring people together and provide a platform for everyone’s voice to be heard.

“We are against all forms of bigotry and discrimination; they should have no place in society,” he added.
