Yahoo Boys Launch Attack Dog On EFCC Operatives

The attention of  Detectives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office was drawn to the Ilegal activities perpetrated by internet fraudster popularly called “yahoo boys” .

The galant officers of the commission in the early hours of Thursday took the suspects by storm at their  hideout in  Agara area of Ibadan.

 After proper introduction by the operatives, instead of allowing them into the apartment,the hoodlums decided to play a fast one,they  instructed  a guard to release an attack dog on the Operatives in order to resist arrest.


They however failed to actualize their intention, instead  the detectives displayed  their  prowess  and professionalism in the field, They incapacitated the dangerous dog, carried out a thorough search on the apartment and  effected the arrest of the fraudsters.

Again, when the criminals saw that they have been dislodged,they made frantic efforts to conceal information that could aid the commission in their investigation, one of the them smashed his android phone with the intention to destroy the gadget and deny access to the data therein.

The attempt was a futile effort as well, as the operatives took possession of the broken phone, which is currently with the forensic unit, where analysis is being carried out to obtain data from it.

Bright Igeleke, second-in-command to the zonal head, who led the operation, described the experience as part of the ‘hazards of the job’.

Information on ground, reveals that the “yahoo boys” used the internet to defraud unsuspecting victims and for impersonations, posing online as white ladies and foreign military officers.

Items recovered from them at the time of the arrest includes  a Lexus car, different brands of phones, iPhones, and International Passports.

The  suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

 Suspects arrested in the operation are: Balogun Ibrahim Adebayo,   Abe Tolulope, Onifade Gidion Idowu, others are  Komolafe Tosin and Igwe Kinsley Otuu, Izu Ibobo Chukwunalu, Paul Afolabi.
